I barely dared glance at the forum today, but I assume there's probably a lot of text-yelling going on. Here is some plain talk about the new figure. I won't be telling you anything that violates my non-disclosure agreement with DAZ; all of this is stuff you can figure out by looking at the figure for a while in DAZ Studio and a modeling program (or by paying attention to store releases). Genesis 3 has a lot more bones than Genesis 2.
She has a full facial rig - expressions are made by moving the tiny bones in her face, just as they are in Pixar's rigs and other important animation. She also has separate twist and bend bones, partly because she is a return to general weight mapping (away from TriAx). She has working toes, two neck bones, etc. This difference in bones means poses don't convert without a product like Zev0's new one. Genesis 3's UVs and mat setup are fundamentally incompatible with all previous generations.
It's not just a matter of material names, although that is a fact (there are fewer materials). Genesis 3's UVs are set up to be more compatible with Zbrush, so they are laid out next to each other horizontally, something you will see if you pull her into a non-Zbrush modeler. Also, her ears are on her head texture, and her arms and legs each have their own separate map. This makes it basically impossible for a Published Artist to create a product that will allow adaptation of G2 assets to G3 in a texture/material sense. We could redo the UV maps, but there would be no way to properly apply them without a very complex scripted workaround that would require a team of artists and still be incredibly difficult.
It's not likely to happen. Having fewer mats isn't a step backward. It's a step in the direction of requiring artists to do everything with maps.
Anyone who thought they could recolor lips by tinting the lip material was wrong to start with (it goes outside the lips' outline and has for many figures now). The new setup just makes it harder to do ugly kludges. It doesn't interfere with artists who know how to paint in a 3d program. I can add, from my current project, that the Zbrush-friendly UV setup is much easier to work with in that program. You're going to see some great character sets for G3.

Genesis 3's autofit supports only Genesis 2 Female. Now this probably will be changed with a PA product. I'm not doing clones myself, but I will probably do a dress adapter template as I did for the G1-G2 convert. The reason I didn't do that on release is that, well, I was just too busy.
I do have a morph product for G3 that I hope will be released in the next couple of days, but they haven't told me a release date. There will be a Genesis 3 Male/Michael 7. There's always a male counterpart. Male products make less money than female products, but it's still enough to keep male-loving artists in business, and that's money for DAZ, too.
Again, I'm not acting on NDA information; I'm explaining to you what I believe based on every figure release so far. I think it should be clear by now that there will probably never be another Hiro or Freak. They've never made much money for DAZ compared to other figures, and with their special issues they've always been more technically difficult to create. Aiko has always made up for that with incredible sales; Hiro has not.
Published artists will step up and fill this gap. There were great muscular hulk-like characters for G2, and there will be for G3. Fuseling and I also plan to do our anime character builder for G3 instead now that we have it. Poser support is throttling back further. You'll be seeing less of it as time goes on.
Artists will have to choose between Poser and Iray, because no one can afford to do three sets of materials; and they're going to choose 3Delight and Iray (those that didn't drop Poser long ago, as I and others have). And on another complaint I've seen that does not relate directly to V7, DAZ does not like doing official animal figures.
The Dragon is always an exception, but in general, they're urging more of that from PA's. Full creatures are challenging projects, and always apt to undersell. I ran into this myself with the Constrictor, something where I poured my heart and soul into the project and then didn't earn back enough to pay for my time. Almost everyone's still rendering with the old python instead. That'll teach me to attempt complex bone rigs and species-accurate textures.
(The tentacle monsters sold a lot better.). Sickle, do you know of anyone working on a G3F Clone for G2F?
I have a feeling this isn't something Daz wants out in the wild yet, because frankly one of the few reasons for most people to go over would be some of the great stuff that's come out for G3F. I think mostly what angers me about G3F is that she isn't much different in terms of geometry from G2F: but her zero pose is different. Otherwise we wouldn't need an auto fit clone for G2F. You can put the G3 Dark Storm outfit on G2F with little trouble except the gloves which don't work at all. Most of this is just because of the different zero position. Frankly there are some great G3F only stuff I'd really like to use, but having to give up my entire mat library, purchasing all sets of basic morphs and an extra set of expressions just really isn't in the cards (or frankly worth in my eyes).
EDIT: Found a handy guide by Kattey on this forum post: Would rather make my own anyway lol. Already did a nice G3 clone for G2, actually. Should you try it yourself and it doesn't go well, you may find it here: The idea that DAZ 'doesn't want' any adaptive product is always, 100% of the time, a wrong assumption. They've told us PAs they would even publish a G2 to G3 texture converter, if one of us was capable of writing it (I'm not sure anyone is). Slosh, V and I have all made conversion-assistance products.
It's more that these products are difficult and unglamorous and a limited number of artists are willing and able. Honestly I do and I don't understand why (most) everyone freaks out every time a new 'gateway' figure comes out. One, they should expect it. If a new figure standard didn't release every few years; DAZ would cease to be.
Two, the new figure doesn't invalidate all your past purchases. Sure there will be new items to 're-purchase' in a certain sense (morphs, textures, etc.). But there is nothing stopping anyone from continuing to use the past items. I continued to use V4 for quite some time while Genesis matured. Same with G2.
You use the tool for the purpose that works for you. You don't just throw away your entire toolbox because you started moving into a new house. Well, of course it's for money. They're not ever going to have the morphs be free.
Creating the morphs is an incredible amount of work, and it's work they're paying their artists to do. If you look at the hidden morphs list you can see the JCMs that it takes to make them functional, and for that matter what it takes to make the base figure functional. They're not going to chalk that up to overhead when they're already giving away the base figures for free (something Smith Micro sure isn't doing, you have to buy the program to get theirs while DS is still free). That's not to say anyone has to buy stuff for it.
Of course not; everyone should use what they like. Thanks for the info. I must say you are most thorough. I expected support for upgrading figures from V4 or G1 or G2 to G3 to come from PA's as that seems to be what has always happened. I just got the impression from your (Detailed) explanation that such a thing wouldn't be possible technically. So If I wanted MRL Eris on G3 V7 then it could be possible for a PA like Dimension3D to make a morph.
Transfer utility like his GenX series, not to mention Slosh's Generation 4 Legacy Shapes for G2F. What I'm hoping for is that same ability here with V7 and G3.
BTW, an Anime character builder sounds fantastic, far more versatile than a simple figure. I just hope that 3djoji updates his 'Little Twins' to the new figure. I got those too, they seemed to useful to ignore. Then 'blam' hello Vicky7. And one question, if it doesn't impinge upon a NDA. How many PA's were privy to the existence/incipient release of the new figure? Some are just now dipping their toes into the Genesis gene pool, straying from V4 (Aeon Soul, for instance.) and I wonder if this will burn them or not.
Thanks again for all your insight. Had a few comments, and seem very upbeat. It also seems like they got some advance warning, but already had a bunch of things in flight.
(Much like most PAs, I imagine.) If you wanted to transfer the shape of MRL Eris to G3, I'm fairly sure there'll be a GenX3 which does it. The problem is that for most characters the shape is only part of the look, the texture is the other. For MRL Eris, the only really noticeable thing I can see is the heavy brow. There's no real skin details that leap out at me, it relies more on the shape (dat nose! ) than the texture, so it'd probably convert better than most. But the texture really isn't going to transfer, so the character won't look EXACTLY the same.
A good example of this is MRL Elena, who I used to demo GenX way back. Without the texture, which has a lot of details, it really won't be as strong a resemblance to a certain Latrodectus. Well, I'm kind of conflicted. I'm not really upset that they released a new generation of figures. I'm more concerned with the fact that they are not considering the loyal customers in the way that they should.
If I really believe it's time that they started implementing some kind of upgrade pricing for clothing and figures. I bought so many things once for Victoria 4 and Genesis, then really going all out with Genesis 2, that I feel like I'm just buying the same things over and over again, and I don't like that. I don't think I will purchase any of the Genesis 3 content because I really feel like I was set up. You release all these new figures and then suddenly POOF! Now you have to buy them all over again! There were things I would have preferred they attend to BEFORE releasing a new set of figures.
I would have preferred that they give us an actual working animation rig. I would have preferred that they give us dynamic clothing without that horrid Optitex plugin. At least that way, it wouldn't matter what generation figure the clothing was for it would just work. I was hoping that implementing Nvidia Iray meant that we were going to get Nvidia Physx particles and simulations. Until we get those things, I'm not buying another generation of figures -there's just no point. I'm not gaining anything real from doing it, and so I'm not going to do it until there's some real improvements to the platform and not just another generation of figures. On the clothing front (and hair as well), there is a workaround: apply V4 clothes/hair to Genesis, then select each and use 'Fit to.'
To apply to G2F, then do the same to apply to G3F. This is definitely not perfect, and somewhat heavy usage of smoothing may be needed (especially with a skirt to get rid of the inverted triangle at the pelvis area when applying to G2F), but it can enable the vast investment in older items to still be useful.
In fact, I did this last night with The difference is that I already have at least one product to directly apply V4 items to G2F via auto-fit, so I was able to skip a few steps from the sequence I mentioned above. This does not always work, of course (especially not with Navy Star Hair!), but hopefully can help mitigate some of your frustrations. I still love G1 since I can get either male or female out of the same model.
It allows me to have maximum use of clothing and the like. Still, I like G3F a lot more than G2F. I wasn't a huge fan. I understood that making separate models for the sexes was necessary to make them more realistic, but unless you did a lot of closeups, it wasn't that noticeable for me. I'd much rather go from G1 to G3.
I purchased V7 but I have to say that if I were to do it again, I'd stay away from Vicky. G3F is plenty quite frankly. I did get the morphs, although I would have preferred a bundle, but I feel that they are a better value than Vicky by herself. The lack of a 3Delight texture on Vicky didn't help my opinion.
While Iray can render some amazing images, it taxes my computer so badly that I can't use it except in extreme cases, and I even have an nVidia GPU. Just a simple render can go from one minute with 3Delight to 25 minutes to Iray - no joke. Question: I have a ton of clothing that I use on G1 that originated on M4/V4.
Genesis 3 Female Genital Morphs
Do I need to convert those to G2F first before trying them on G3F? So if I may ask for a clarification. Genesis 3's UVs and mat setup are fundamentally incompatible with all previous generations. This makes it basically impossible for a Published Artist to create a product that will allow adaptation of G2 assets to G3 in a texture/material sense. So, does this mean that there can't be a product like GenX to upconvert figures to the new G3. There are quite a few clones I've collected with the intention of using on the latest figure and I'd hate to find out that it wouldn't be possible.
As an aside, I'm a bit tweaked that I've gone and purchased mods for G2 not 24 hours before G3 and V7 are released with no warning. I almost feel robbed by that. I will admit that at this point I'm just accumulating assets to play with when I retire, but I've been doing that for a few years now, starting with Genesis pretty much.
My plan is to actually learn the software when I have the free time, a couple of months from now.
Genital Morphs G3 Male
This is a transcription of the audio lecture originally given live on Gnostic Radio, which you can download for free. In our, we explained in detail about the symbols related with the Garden of Eden, however, we did not talk about the tempting serpent of Eden and what relates to temptation as it is written in chapter three of the book of Genesis. It is very important for us to comprehend the symbolism of the tempting serpent of Eden, in order for us to deeply comprehend the marvelous mysteries enclosed within the Garden of Eden. Microcosmically speaking, the Garden of Eden is formed by the physical body together with the vital body; here we are not referring to the Garden of Eden located in the fourth dimension, but to our own particular individual garden, which we always carry with us, since this is related to our vital body, the superior aspect of our physical body.
Genesis 3 Female Genitalia
If we understand that the Garden of Eden is formed by our physical and vital bodies–which in are called and, respectively–we can then easily talk about the two trees that are in the midst of the Garden. Thus, let us visualize the physical body and enquire where these two trees–the and the tree of good and evil–are located. Within, we have a spinal medulla plus its two nervous systems – taking into account that the brain and spinal medulla are the central nervous system – thus, when I am stating “plus the two nervous systems,” I am referring to the two other nervous systems: the grand sympathetic and the parasympathetic nervous systems.
The three main nervous systems are connected to the different glands, different organs, muscles, etc., of our physical body. These three nervous systems are related to the three primary forces of the, the Logoic Triangle: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit–or,. These three primary forces or energies descend from above. “Delight” - which is the Eden Above, the Upper Eden - is the Sephirah. So, “Delight” is where “Jah and Chavah” are united, where Father and Mother, Abba and Aima are united, and through them the three primary forces descend into our physical body.
Or, as we explained in other lectures, the Akashic forces from heaven penetrate the physical body through the three nervous systems. This is how that which is nourishes the physical body; in other words, this is how Christ enters into the physical body in order to nourish the vital and physical bodies through the, which microcosmically is the spinal medulla with its nervous systems.
Thus, we need to comprehend and understand that the soul is what is placed in the middle of the Garden of Eden. The soul is, the human soul. Thus, we as souls are part of that sephirah (which in means “beauty”).
Therefore, the essence (our ) is part of, the human soul, and this Essence is what is in the middle of the Garden (in the pineal gland). This is how places the soul in the middle of the Garden. Such a that we are taking about here, is the Ruach Elohim, which is translated as “the Spirit of,” in other words, the Spirit of the Elohim. We explained in other lectures that this Spirit of the Elohim–this individual particular spirit that each one of us has inside–is our Father, which is what in is called, which means “mercy.” Thus, or Mercy is the Ruach Elohim that–as you read in the book of Genesis–in the beginning of creation was hovering upon the face of the waters. So, our own particular spirit “” is a child, the son of the three primary forces, which through Jah-Chavah Elohim begot him in “Delight,” the Upper Eden. This is why when we talk about the son of within our own particular individuality, we talk about the son of our own Jah-Chavah Elohim.
So, is the son of Jah-Chavah Elohim that descends into the physical body in order to create. Thus, this Ruach Elohim is hovering over the sexual waters of in order to create our physical body; thereafter, he sends his child, his human soul, which in this case is our psyche. We as part of that human soul are embryos, which are called essence,. As we already explained, in the beginning Jah-Chavah Elohim plants the Lower Garden of Eden; Jah-Chavah Elohim does this within the womb of our mother, which in her particular case, her womb is another Eden where the Holy Spirit (Jah-Chavah Elohim) creates our own Garden of Eden, which will be our physical and vital bodies together, in order for us “to keep it and maintain” that garden and take advantage of it. This is why after nine months when the physical body is done, created, this means that the Garden of Eden is already planted by Jah-Chavah Elohim. This is - as you remember – what the Bible explains as follows: These are the generations (creations) of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Jah-Chavah Elohim made the earth (physical and vital bodies) and the heavens (the ) And (this is how) Jah-Chavah Elohim planted a garden (our physicality) eastward in Eden (the womb of our mother); and there he put (the soul of) the man (, the Spirit) whom he had formed. Genesis 2:4, 8 These are the verses which we are explaining here: the generation, the creation of the heavens and the earth.
The heavens in this case is the Upper Eden, “delight,” and the earth is the Lower Eden, which is translated as “pleasure,” and which is our physical body that is created within the womb of our physical mother; it is created thanks to the river that descends from above, from “Delight,” the Upper Eden, which transfers the action of the three primary forces into the womb of our physical mother. This is how the three primary forces - placed within the womb of our physical mother - create another Garden of Eden, which is our physicality. Little by little it is developed; thus after nine months when the Garden of Eden is done, it comes out from within the womb of our physical mother, in order to fulfill what is written: These are the generations (creations) of the heavens and of the earth; when they were created, in the day that Jah-Chavah Elohim (which is Father and Mother in Heaven) made the earth and the heavens, and every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for Jah-Chavah Elohim had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. Genesis 2: 4, 5 In other words, when the newly born physical body comes out from within the womb of our physical mother, those elements (archetypes) that planted in order for us to become a Kosmos Human are still in potentiality within our physical body. So, the physical and vital bodies contain the archetypes that we need in order to develop the “man in the image of ” within.
This is why it is written “and there was not a man to till the ground,” because we are only an embryo of soul within the physical body. Yes, a soul-embryo is what we are right now.
